Delivery text scams: check a missed-package message safely
Expecting a package does not prove that a delivery text is genuine. Check the delivery through your original order.
Start from the retailer's account
Open the retailer's app or the order confirmation you already trust. Find your tracking details there instead of using a link in an unexpected text.
Watch for small-fee requests
A message can ask for a modest redelivery charge and lead to a look-alike payment page. The bigger risk may be the card and personal information collected during that payment.
A fictional example
“Delivery failed. Pay a small handling fee within one hour or your parcel will be returned.”
Warning sign: a deadline pushes you toward an unverified payment page. Safer action: check your order's delivery status independently before providing information.
If you already entered details
Contact the relevant bank or service promptly through its official channel and explain what you shared. Keep the message for reporting. Do not assume that a small initial charge means there is no further risk.
